Description

This is an early 17th-century farmhouse built of coursed squared rubble with an 18th-century pantile roof and ashlar dressings. It has two gable stacks and one external ridge stack. The original house is two storeys and five bays wide, with a single range projecting to the rear with a lean-to addition and catslide roof. Windows are mullioned casements with chamfered reveals; those on the front have hood moulds. The south front has a central door with a heavy lintel and hood mould, flanked by two casements. To the right is an adjoining cartshed with a doorway. Above the door is a central framed blank panel flanked by two casements. The rear elevation features a cartshed with a brick pier to the left, followed by a Yorkshire sash window, a door, two mullioned casements, and a lean-to addition with a slate roof and garage doors. A tiny casement and a Yorkshire sash window are situated above the cartshed and lean-to addition respectively. The west end has two doors.

Inside, the house retains a cased jowled bay post, three-span beams with ogee stops, a chamfered span beam, and a fireplace bressummer. A winder stair has a square newel and stick balusters, and there are two stud partitions. The entrance hall features a panelled dado. Original 9-plank doors and two 18th-century panelled doors remain, along with an early 19th-century hob grate and a 19th-century register grate.
