Description
Nos. 51, 53, and 55 on High Street are three cottages built in the early 19th century. They are constructed of coursed rubble, dressed stone, and brick, topped with pantile roofs. There is a stone lean-to addition with a pantile roof on the southwest side. The cottages are two storeys high and feature seven bays, with two ridge stacks and one gable stack.
The windows include 20th-century casements and 19th-century sashes. No. 51, located on the left, has a central door on the west side flanked by single windows. No. 53 has an off-centre door also flanked by single windows. No. 55 features a central lean-to wooden porch with single windows on either side. Above No. 55, there are five casements and a Yorkshire sash to the right. The south gable has a plain sash on each floor.
On the east side, the right section projects from No. 51, which has a casement to the left, two tiny casements to the right, and a Yorkshire sash further right. Above this section, there are three casements. The return angle to the south has a Yorkshire sash, with a casement above it. The north gable features a casement above.
