Description
The White Lion is a public house located on Town Street in Beeston and Stapleford. It was built in the mid 18th century and mid 19th century. The building is constructed of brick and features slate and concrete tile roofs. It has a rendered plinth, dentillated eaves, and shouldered coped gables. The structure is two storeys high and consists of five bays in an L-plan layout.
The front of the building includes 19th-century sash and casement windows, mostly with segmental heads. To the left, there are single-storey and two-storey additions with overhanging eaves supported by posts. To the right of these additions, there is a door flanked by single sash windows. Further to the right, brick and stone steps lead up to a partially glazed door with an overlight, which is flanked by single casements. Above this entrance, there are two sash windows to the left and a scrolled iron sign bracket. To the right, there are three casement windows.
At the rear of the building, there is a gabled wing and outbuilding to the left, and two lean-to additions to the right. The rear features irregular fenestration, mostly from the 20th century.
