Description
No. 289 on Derby Road is a house built in the mid-18th century. It is constructed of brick and has been whitewashed, featuring gabled and lean-to roofs covered with plain tiles. The gables have shouldered copes, with the eastern gable topped by ball finials. The house has two storeys and three bays, arranged in an L-plan. There is a lean-to rear addition from the mid-19th century.
The front of the house has a central panelled door with a small hood, flanked by Yorkshire sash windows with segmental heads. Above the door, there are three additional sash windows. The north end of the house features an off-centre door with a segmental head, flanked by casement windows. At the return angle, there are two 20th-century casements on each floor.
On the rear, to the left, there is a casement window, and to the right, a Yorkshire sash. Above, to the left, there is another casement window. The south end has a Yorkshire sash to the left and two garage doors to the right, with two larger Yorkshire sashes above on the right side.
