Description

The buildings at 118 and 120 Nottingham Road are a pair of lacemakers’ cottages, dating from the mid-19th century. They have been converted into houses. The construction is primarily brick, with a slate roof, and parts of the exterior are rendered. The building has a plinth and dentilated eaves, along with two gable stacks. It is three stories high with three bays, and a lean-to extension to the rear. Most of the windows are modern cross casements. Ground floor and first floor window openings have splayed lintels made of stucco with keystones. The front of the building has a blocked central tunnel entry, flanked by single doors. Each door has an ogee shoescraper. Above the doors, there are three casements. Above those, on the left there are two windows with small panes of glass, and on the right, two plain Yorkshire sashes. Each rendered gable has a casement window in the garret. The rear elevation includes single and two-story gabled additions from the 19th and 20th centuries, and 20th-century windows.
