Description

Southfield House and The Cottage, along with their boundary wall, are located on Southfield Lane, dating from around 1820 and 1918. The buildings are finished in stucco and colourwash, topped with hipped slate roofs. They feature first floor and impost bands, with four side wall stacks and a single ridge stack. The structure is two storeys high with three bays, presenting a square plan with a rear wing.

The windows consist of glazing bar sashes and casements. On the north side, there is a door on the left and a tall sash window on the right. Above, to the left, is a round-headed stair light and to the right, another sash window. The west end has a central sash window on each floor. The south front features a recessed central bay with three recesses that have elliptical heads. The central entrance has a reeded doorcase flanked by single sashes, with three additional sashes above. To the right, there is a late 19th-century conservatory with canted ends and five bays.

The east side includes an off-centre two-storey hipped addition from 1918. There is also an adjoining ramped coped wall and a toilet block with a shouldered coped gable and a door facing south. The rear wing, known as The Cottage, has a shuttered casement and door on the east side, with an oriel window and casement above to the left. The north gable and west side feature late 19th-century casements. The boundary wall, rendered and approximately 30 meters long, adjoins the property.
