Description
This pair of lodges, built around 1860, is located at the entrance to Welbeck Woodyard Road, south of the College Hospital in Holbeck. Constructed from ashlar, each lodge features a shaped tile roof with three coped gables, kneelers, and mannerist style orb finials. The lodges are gabled, two storeys plus an attic, with a three-bay front. The central doorway is a chamfered Tudor style arch with a hood mould, flanked by single narrow casement windows. Above the doorway, there are two two-light casements with mullions and a single narrow casement in the attic. All windows are adorned with drip moulds. Attached to the sides of the lodges are single narrow coped walls that rest on plinths and end in single coped piers. To the left of the left lodge, there is a coped wall featuring a Tudor style chamfered arched doorway with a wooden door.
