Description

The farm buildings at Hardwick Grange date from the late 19th century and are constructed of brick and timber with slate roofs and ashlar dressings. The buildings feature coped gables with kneelers and have five ridge stacks. The west range consists of 22 unequal bays, while the four east wings form three courts with 13 unequal bays. The complex includes cartsheds, a carriage house, an office, and workshops. Most windows are mullioned and transomed casements.

The east front displays four gables, with the left cartshed gables featuring a small door and the right gable showcasing diaper work. The left and central courts have various irregular openings that were altered in the 20th century. The carriage house, located in the third gable from the left, has three fixed lights to the south, a gable with a pointed arched double doorway featuring a keystone and ornate hinges, and a pinnacle above. The right court includes seven fixed lights and two double doors to the south, six open bays to the west, and three facades to the north.

The central office building is two storeys high, in an L-plan with four bays, and features an off-centre canted bay window with a parapet and three casements. To the left, there are three casements, and to the right, a pointed arched door. Above, there are two flat-roofed dormers with two-light casements. The workshop to the left has a double doorway flanked by single casements, with an additional doorway beyond to the left and a single casement to the right, some of which have pointed heads. Above, there are two blind gables. The workshops to the right have three casements and a double door, with four blind gables above. The east gable features two casements, while the north side has a central projecting gabled bay with three casements flanked by three casements.

Outside, there is a linking brick boundary wall with ashlar coping to the east, along with two pairs of chamfered timber gateposts topped with conical octagon caps and two pairs of close boarded gates.
