Description

The monument to Lord William Augustus Cavendish Bentinck is located in the churchyard of the Church of St. Winifred, 7 metres southeast of the apse. This early 20th-century monument is designed as a low table tomb made of ashlar. It has a rectangular shape and stands on four bulbous feet, resting on a rectangular paved area. The edges of the base are adorned with decorations of grapes and vine leaves. The top features a stylised decorative cross set against an open background, along with the inscription: "To the memory of Lord William Augustus Cavendish Bentinck Major 10 Royal Hussars DSO born Jany 31 1865 Died at sea while on his way to rejoin his Regiment in India Novr 4th 1903."
