Description
Smith's Cottage is an early 18th-century cottage that was heightened in the mid-19th century. The ground floor is constructed of dressed coursed rubble, while the first floor is made of red brick. It features a pantile roof with two red brick gable stacks. The cottage is two storeys high and consists of three bays. The central doorway has a part-glazed door and is flanked by single glazing bar Yorkshire sash windows, all set under segmental brick arches. Above the doorway, there is a central narrow glazing bar casement window, flanked by two single glazing bar casements.
To the left of the main structure, there is a slightly set-back single-storey extension made of brick and slate, which has three bays. This extension includes a single glazing bar sash window and two doorways with wooden doors. Further to the left, slightly projecting from the main building, is a single-storey outbuilding made of dressed coursed rubble and red brick, with a pantile roof and a right bed brick gable stack, all set on a plinth. The cottage is included for its group value only.
