Description

The George Augustus Cavendish-Bentinck Monument, dated 1891, is located 8 meters east of the chancel of the Church of St Mary on Brownsea Island. The base of the monument is made from an imported Italian well-head designed as a Corinthian capital, which is raised on three steps. Above this base, there is an ornamental iron arch that features an inscribed bronze plaque dedicated to Cavendish-Bentinck and his widow.
