Description
Hobbits Rest, Moss Bank is a terrace of three houses built in the late 18th century. The structure is made of brick, with some parts colourwashed, and features a slate roof that has three ridge stacks and one gable stack. The gable is brick coped and tumbled, while one gable is cement rendered.
The front of the building has five bays and is two stories high, with attics. On the ground floor, there are three main doors, which are flanked by single 20th-century windows. There is also a subsidiary round-headed doorway that leads to a rear passage between houses three and five. The main doors feature reeded surrounds and plain cornices. The left pair of doors are 20th-century half-glazed, while the door at the right end is a 19th-century four-panelled door. Above the doors, there are five 20th-century windows, all of which have segmental brick heads. In the roof, there are three 20th-century flat-roofed dormers serving houses one and three.
