Description

30 South Street is a late 18th-century shop and house, with alterations from the 19th century. The building is constructed of brick, with a pantile roof and one brick gable stack. It is two storeys high plus attics. The front has three bays at ground floor level, and a single bay at first floor level, with a band separating the floors. A decorative dog tooth eaves course runs along the top. A central six-panelled door is topped by a plain overlight. To the left of the door is a 19th-century sash window, and to the right is a 19th-century shop front, comprising a four-paned window, and a half-glazed double door with overlight, all framed by wooden panelled uprights with fascia and cornice. The first floor has a single bordered sash window, and above it a dormer with a Yorkshire sash window having gridded glazing bars, rendered cheeks, and a lead roof.
