Description
No. 1 is a house with outbuildings and railings, dating from the 17th century, with late 18th century features and 19th century alterations. The building is constructed of brick and has a pantiled roof with an eaves cornice supported by prominent brackets, raised stone gables, and two gable stacks. It has a two-storey, three-bay front. The central entrance features a six-panelled door with a traceried overlight, panelled reveals, and a wooden doorcase with a narrow hood. On either side of the door are plain sash windows, and on the first floor, there are three similar windows; the lower windows have splayed rubbed brick flat arches that are slightly advanced. To the left of the house is a single-storey late 17th century brick building with a steeply pitched brick coped tumbled gable. In front of the house is a fine set of late 18th century iron railings, which have alternating sinuous and vertical square section railings that terminate in decorative knops above the top rail. To the right is a contemporary high brick garden wall.
