Description

The Village Hall, built in 1897, is constructed of yellow brick with red brick detailing and dressings, featuring a slate roof with decorative ridge tiles and terracotta finials. It has an irregular L-shaped plan. The main front comprises seven irregular bays; the left-hand block is two stories high with three bays facing the road, featuring three trefoil-headed lancet windows on both the ground and first floors, and a quatrefoil window in the gable. To the right is a three-stage tower defined by moulded terracotta string courses, the lowest of which extends to the left. The ground floor of the tower has a doorway with a Gothic traceried pointed overlight, and the first floor has two trefoil-headed lancet windows with a circular clock panel above. The tower rises to an embattled top with terracotta copings. To the right of the tower is a single-story link with a trefoil-headed lancet, followed by a further gabled range with two lancets and a quatrefoil above. Decorative terracotta dentilations adorn the eaves and gables. All corners have angle pilasters, and the window heads are of contrasting red brick with moulded brick hood moulds.
