Description

Manor House is a house dating from the mid 17th century, with alterations around 1700 and a refronting in 1786, along with 19th and 20th-century modifications. It is built of coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and quoins, topped with a pantile roof featuring raised stone coped gables and kneelers, and two brick ridge stacks. The building has an L-plan layout with a lobby entry. The main front has two storeys and a garret in the left-hand gable, consisting of four bays. The entrance features an off-centre glazed door with a 20th-century pent porch. To the left of the door is a single glazing bar sash window, followed by a canted glazing bar bay window with a hipped stone slate roof. To the right is a single three-light casement window. The first floor has two glazing bar sashes and another three-light casement, with a single glazing bar sash in the gable above. All windows are 20th-century replacements and have segmental stone heads. An oval datestone inscribed "AD 1786" is located in the gable. Further to the right is a single-storey service wing with two bays, also featuring raised stone coped gables and kneelers. Inside, alterations revealed the remains of two 17th-century four-centred stone fireplace surrounds and the sites of some blocked mullioned windows. The main roof is of the staggered butt purlin type, dating to around 1700.
