Description

Home Farmhouse is a house dating from the early 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with ashlar quoins and dressings, and has a pantiled roof with raised stone coped gables and a single ball finial. It features single ashlar ridge and gable stacks, with 20th-century brick funnels. The two-storey, four-bay front has an off-centre half-glazed door protected by a 20th-century gabled porch. To the right of the door is a two-light sliding glazing bar sash window and two fixed two-light glazing bar windows. The first floor has two sliding glazing bar sashes; all openings have timber lintels. A single-bay service wing, with a gabled pantiled roof and a single brick gable stack, includes an outshut with a single 20th-century fixed light. The right gable has a two-light mullioned window. The left-hand (road) gable features a three-light mullioned window on the ground floor, a 20th-century two-light glazing bar casement in a stone surround on the first floor, and a two-light mullioned window to the gable. The mullioned windows have ovolo moulded mullions and moulded cornices. Inside, the house retains deeply chamfered spine beams with run-out stops and a fireplace with a chamfered lintel.
