Description
This is a row of four terraced houses, originally six, dating from the early 19th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. The houses are built of painted stucco and have pantiled roofs and five brick ridge stacks. The front of the building originally had 14 bays, but now appears as 12 bays, with two doorways blocked. The front has a plinth on the downhill side (the right-hand side of the facade). The facade is divided by three pairs of stucco pilasters, featuring bases and capitals. A central open, round-headed doorway leads to the rear, with concentric rusticated stucco voussoirs. To the left are two 20th-century half-glazed doors and three glazing bar sash windows. To the right are two further 20th-century glazed doors, two glazing bar sash windows, and one 20th-century triple casement window. The first floor has seven smaller glazing bar sash windows, and the third floor has a central blocked window opening flanked by three small glazing bar sashes on either side. All original windows retain segmental heads with rusticated stucco segmental lintels. The group value of this building lies in its contribution to the character of the Horse Market.
