Description
Tower House is an early 19th-century house, originally stuccoed with stucco dressings, now covered by a hipped slate roof with two ridge stacks. The building presents a three-bay front, with a first-floor band, a cornice band, and slightly overhanging eaves. The outer two bays are bowed and project slightly forward across both storeys. A central six-panelled door, with the upper two panels glazed and decorated with scalloped-angled rectangles, features a traceried fanlight above. The door is sheltered by an open porch supported on detached circular Tuscan columns, with similar half columns flanking. The columns support a plain frieze and entablature. To either side of the porch are full-height sash windows with slender glazing bars, plain surrounds, simple cornices, scrolled brackets, and original glass and shutters. The first floor has three further sash windows with slender glazing bars. The interior features moulded skirting, architraves, and doors, a marble fireplace with brass roundels, and a second fireplace with fluted columns. The right-hand facade facing Grimsby Road has four bays on the ground floor with cornices and brackets, and four sash windows on the first floor, all original.
