Description
No. 31 Market Place is a house dating from around 1875. It is built of red brick with limestone ashlar dressings and features a slate roof with decorative eaves. The house has an ashlar dressed off-gable stack and a single ridge stack that it shares with No. 29.
The building is two storeys high and has a three-bay front. It includes an ashlar dressed plinth, a first-floor band, and quoins. The central doorway is framed by an ashlar pilastered doorcase with a plain entablature, an overlight, and a ribbed and studded plank door. The doorway is flanked by plain sash windows with margin lights, and there are three plain sash windows with margin lights above, the one over the door being narrower. All the windows have ashlar wedge lintels. This listing is included for its group value only.
