Description
33 Market Place is a house with a shop, originally built in the 17th century, with early and mid-19th century and 20th-century alterations. The building features coursed ironstone rubble, red brick, render, and colourwash.
The front is two storeys high and has three bays, with an early 19th-century rendered brick façade. The 20th-century shop front slightly projects and includes central partially glazed double doors, flanked by fixed shop windows with two narrow vertical lights each. To the right, there is a single plain sash window. Above, there are three plain sashes, all with segmental heads. The north return wall is colourwashed rubble, featuring a deep-set doorway to the left with a bracketed hood and a panelled door. To the right, there is a glazing bar sash with a wooden lintel, and beyond it, a small larder air vent opening covered in gauze and also with a wooden lintel.
To the right is a two-storey, three-bay extension with decorative brick eaves. This extension has a large doorway with a segmental head and double plank doors, along with two small shuttered openings above that flank a larger shuttered opening. The interior walls are made of very thick 17th-century rubble.
