Description
The former School and School House, now a house and an empty room, was built in 1861. It is constructed from squared limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings. The building features a plain tiled roof with overhanging eaves and gables supported by carved wooden brackets, along with two moulded stone gable stacks and a single wall stack.
The school section is a single storey with dormers and has a three-bay front. The central entrance is a planked door set under a gabled porch, which has pointed inner and outer doorways, flanked by single three-light windows. In the roof, there are two gabled dormers with two-light glazing bar casements and rendered cheeks. A stone above the outer doorway displays the date 1861 along with the Woodhouse Griffin.
The school is connected by a wall to the single-storey house with a garret, which also has a three-bay front. This house features a central planked doorway, with a two-light window to the left and a tall lancet window to the right. All windows have wooden heads shaped like Caernarvon arches, and all openings are framed with stop-chamfered ashlar surrounds.
