Description

The Ice House is a late 18th century structure located on the south side of Main Street in Uffington. It is built from red brick and has a circular plan. The entrance features steps that lead down to a doorway topped with an ashlar lintel, which is inscribed with "WB" on the reverse side. Inside, the entrance passage has a brick barrel vault, with semi-circular headed niches on either side. The main circular chamber is sunk and has a very shallow brick vault.
