Description
The pedestrian garden gateway to the demolished Uffington House dates from around 1845. It is constructed from ashlar, wrought iron, and terracotta. The gateway features a single wrought iron gate with twisted bottom verticals and lozenges in the rails. Above the gate, there are scrolls attached to a central stem, and the top curves downwards, adorned with scroll finials and a central arabesque. On either side of the gate are square rusticated piers that have fluted faces, moulded bases, and cornices, which are topped with terracotta urns.
