Description
Sutton Lodge is a house with an attached barn, now functioning as a house, built in 1721 with 19th and 20th-century alterations. The structure is made of coursed rubble ironstone with limestone ashlar quoins and features a concrete tiled roof, which has a single large 20th-century brick ridge stack and one rectangular skylight. The building is two stories tall with an attic and has irregular window placements.
At the north end of the east front, there is a doorway with a plain stone doorcase that has a heavy rectangular head, leading to a 20th-century partially glazed door. To the north of the doorway, there is a sliding sash window beneath a wooden lintel, while to the south, a sash window with two mullions is set beneath a large stone lintel on the first floor. The first floor also features two sliding sash windows under wooden lintels to the north and a large dormer window to the south with a glazing bar sash, along with a small rectangular casement further south.
The south return of the building includes a single glazing bar sash window dating from after 1860, with another window above it, both featuring a painted stone lintel. In the gable above, there is a datestone inscribed "Rob. Lynn, 1721," which refers to the original house and barn.
