Description
The Recruiting Sergeant Public House is a building that was originally a house, dating from the early 19th century, with a later 19th-century extension at the rear. It is constructed from coursed ironstone rubble, featuring some ashlar dressings and red brick, with a roof covered in concrete tiles. The building has brick gable stacks, brick gables, and decorated brick eaves.
The front elevation is two storeys high and has three bays, with a plinth and quoins. The central doorway has a segmental head and a plain wooden door, with painted stone splayed lintels. On either side of the door are 20th-century casement windows with wooden lintels. Above the door, there is a two-light sliding sash window, flanked by three-light sliding sash windows, all featuring wooden lintels.
