Description
The Timbers is a house located on High Street in Harlaxton, built in the late 18th century and remodeled around 1830, with some alterations made in the late 20th century. It is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and features a concrete tile roof. The building has two brick gable stacks with coped octagonal double stacks and dentillated eaves. It stands two storeys tall and has a three-window range. Most of the windows are stone mullioned two-light casements, with the larger ground floor windows featuring cornices.
A central two-storey timber-framed gabled porch is adorned with rendered nogging and decorative timberwork. The first floor jetties out and has a two-light casement with a wooden mullion, while below it is a 20th-century board door. This house is one of those built or altered between 1790 and 1820 by George de Ligne Gregory and later remodeled in a picturesque style by Gregory Gregory, both of whom were Lords of the Manor of Harlaxton.
