Description
Netherlea is an estate cottage dated 1802, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and features a hipped slate roof with two rendered ridge stacks. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window range. The windows consist of stone mullioned cast-iron casements with diamond panes, including a central two-light window flanked by three-light windows. There is a gabled porch with a round arched opening and a panelled door, above which is a cast-iron plaque displaying armorial devices and the initials JSG, referring to John Sherwin Gregory, who was the Lord of the Manor of Harlaxton from 1860 to around 1875. On either side of the porch, there is a three-light window. This cottage is one of several built or altered between approximately 1790 and 1820 by George de Ligne Gregory, another Lord of the Manor of Harlaxton.
