Description
Willow Cottage is a house located on High Street in Harlaxton. It dates from the mid-18th century, with alterations made around 1800 and a remodel in the 1830s, along with some late 20th-century changes. The building is constructed of brick and coursed squared stone, featuring ashlar dressings and a concrete tile roof. It has two corbelled brick gable stacks with coped square double stone flues and coped gables. The house is two storeys high and has a two-window range of 20th-century wooden framed three-light casements, with the ground floor windows being larger. A central two-storey timber-framed gabled porch covers a gable-headed board door. The left side of the building has been largely rebuilt in the late 20th century and includes a single light window with a stone surround and cornice. This cottage is likely one of those that were refronted between 1790 and 1820 by George de Ligne Gregory and later remodeled in a picturesque style by Gregory Gregory, who were successive Lords of the Manor of Harlaxton.
