Description
The gateway and boundary wall to Conygree, located on High Street in Harlaxton, date back to the 17th century for the gateway, which was moved around 1865, while the boundary wall was constructed in the mid-19th century. The gateway features off-centre red brick piers with panelled ashlar pilasters and scroll brackets, topped with a segmental pediment that has three ball finials. It includes a round arched brick opening with imposts and a keystone, along with a 20th-century wrought-iron gate. The boundary wall is made of coursed rubble with slab coping and stretches approximately 50 meters. The materials for the 17th-century gateway likely originated from Harlaxton Manor House, which was demolished around 1865 by John Sherwin Gregory.
