Description
Nos. 8 and 9 on Swinegate are late 18th-century buildings constructed of brick with a pantile roof. They are three stories tall, featuring a band that continues along the sill of the first-floor windows. The buildings originally had three windows, although the center ones are now bricked up. The remaining windows are flush framed, hung sashes with glazing bars, set in shaped flat stone arches with keystones.
On the ground floor, there is a round-arched passageway with a brick-filled fanlight. No. 8 retains its original window and has a plain stone lintel above the door. No. 9 features a door with an original carved stone flat arch and keystone, but this door is currently boarded up. To the right of this door, there is a new window, and the plinth has been rendered.
