Description
Nos 5 to 8 Broad Street is an early 19th-century building featuring three storeys constructed in ashlar stone. The roof is concealed by a blocking course and is topped with four moulded stone chimney stacks. The façade includes eight windows, two of which are blocked. The remaining windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars, and there is a curved window on the corner to the left. The central section of the building, which has three windows, projects slightly forward, while the right-hand section with two lights also breaks forward. The first-floor windows consist of one curved window, one three-light window with moulded wood mullions, one early 19th-century oriel window, and two single-light windows, arranged from left to right. The doors feature fielded panels beneath glazed semi-circular fanlights with tracery, alternating with three-light windows. To the left of the centre, two windows are modern versions of a 19th-century shop front with glazing bars. The building is finished with a moulded cornice and a blocking course. Nos 1, the railings and terrace to No 1, No 2, the wall and gates to No 2, No 3, No 4 (Warden's House), and Nos 5 to 11 together form a group.
