Description

39 and 40 Broad Street is a late 18th century building that stands three storeys tall with attics, constructed from ashlar stone. It features a stone slate mansard roof adorned with two cambered dormers that have glazing bars. The building has two stone chimney stacks and seven windows set in plain reveals, which are double-hung sashes also with glazing bars. Stone bands extend across the window cills. Number 39 has a 19th century shop front, while number 40 has a modern shop front. This building is part of a group that includes numbers 36 to 40 on Broad Street.
