Description
Numbers 9 and 10 Ironmonger Street are two-storey buildings with attics, dating from 1671. They feature a well-preserved 18th-century front elevation made of painted stucco. The roof is covered with stone slates, and the buildings have rusticated quoins, a moulded cornice, and a small parapet divided into three sections with small panels in between. Moulded stone bands run along the window cills. There are seven windows with moulded shouldered architraves; the top floor windows have glazing bars, while the first-floor windows also feature a pulvinated frieze and a small cornice. Number 9 includes an attractive early 19th-century shop front with modern glazing in reeded frames, each topped by a blind semi-circular fanlight with glazing bars, and a double door with an inset scraper. The street level of Number 10 has a modern shop front. Numbers 7 to 14 Ironmonger Street form a group.
