Description
The Old Place is a house dating from the 17th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed from coursed limestone and ironstone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings. The building has stone coped gables topped with ball finials and two moulded ridge stacks, all under a pantiled roof.
The front of the house has four bays and is two storeys high, with attics. An off-centre glazed 20th-century door is set within a 17th-century moulded stone surround that includes a moulded cornice above. To the left of the door is a 20th-century three-light mullioned window with casements, while to the right is a 17th-century three-light mullioned window, followed by a longer 20th-century three-light mullioned window.
On the first floor, there are three three-light mullioned windows, except for a small square 17th-century window above the door, which has a moulded surround. All the mullioned windows are ovolo moulded and feature moulded cornices. Additionally, there is one 20th-century three-light dormer with an ashlar base, rendered above, and a gabled roof.
