Description
Old Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th century, with alterations and additions from the 17th and 19th centuries. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a pantiled roof with stone coped gables and a single brick ridge stack. The building has an L-plan layout, with the east front comprising a single storey plus an attic and three bays.
The central entrance is a planked door located beneath a 16th-century, four-centred ashlar arch that has a moulded frame and hollow spandrels. To the left of the door is a single two-light casement window, while to the right is a single Yorkshire glazing bar sash; both windows have timber lintels. Above the entrance is a single light dormer with a tiled roof. On the left end of the building, there are single three-light ovolo moulded 17th-century windows with cornices on both the ground and first floors.
The right range of the house includes part of a 17th-century structure but has undergone substantial alterations. Inside, the earlier range features several chamfered beams and the base of a 14th-century decorated post, which may have been part of an aisle, located beside the hearth.
