Description
Glebe Farmhouse and barn is a former public house that has been converted into a farmhouse and barn. It dates from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The farmhouse is constructed of ashlar stone, while the barn is built from coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins. The roof is covered with pantiles and features stone-coped gables, along with two gable and one ridge ashlar stacks, some of which have been partly rebuilt in brick.
The farmhouse is two stories high and has a four-bay front. The entrance is an off-centre 20th-century door, with a 19th-century rectangular plain sash bay window to the right, both situated under a pent pantile roof with a scalloped fascia. To the left of the entrance is a glazing bar sash window, and to the right, there is another half-glazed 20th-century door and a glazing bar sash window. On the first floor, there is a blank opening to the left, with a single glazing bar sash window, and to the right, a pair of similar windows beneath the eaves. The left-hand end of the farmhouse features the inscription "The Black Bull," which is also repeated on the gable.
The attached barn, which is slightly taller and projects from the farmhouse, has a single half-glazed door with a timber lintel. The roof of the barn was replaced in the 20th century. Inside the farmhouse, there is a chamfered arched bressumer over the fireplace and some original shutters.
