Description
The building is a late 18th century structure located on the south side of Market Place, adjacent to another property occupied by Boots and Lyall and Company. It consists of two shops made of red brick, featuring a stone band between the first and second storeys. The building rises to three storeys and has four windows with stone lintels that include keystones, and it does not have glazing bars. The shop front for Boots is modern, while Lyall and Company features a 19th century shop window and door. The door is a four-panel design with a glazed rectangular fanlight above it. Doric pilasters support the cornice and entablature that are positioned over the window and door. This building is part of a group of listed buildings in Market Place, which includes Nos 3 and South Street.
