Description

J. Houghton and Sons is a house with a shop that now operates as a bakery. It was built in the early 19th century, with some later 19th-century alterations. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a pantile roof with gable stacks. It has two storeys and an attic, presenting a two-bay front. The doorway is located to the right and has a glazed door beneath a continuous moulded cornice. To the left of the door is a shop window with four rectangular lights, flanked by slender pilasters. To the right of the door, there is a single plain sash window with a segmental head. On the upper floor, there are two plain sash windows, also with segmental heads. The attic features two raking dormers, each with two-light casements.
