Description
The building is a post office, originally a house, dating from around 1800 with late 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of red brick with painted ashlar dressings and features a pantile mansard roof with gable stacks. The structure has two storeys and an attic, presenting a three-bay front with quoins and a first-floor band.
The central doorway is deep set with a semi-circular head, flanked by slender columns that have moulded capitals. Above the doorway is a traceried fanlight and a partially glazed door. On either side of the entrance, shop windows project, each consisting of three lights, with the central light featuring a semi-circular glazing bar at the top. The upper storey has two glazing bar sash windows with serpentine lintels and raised keystones. Additionally, there are two raking dormers above, each with small glazing bar sashes.
