Description
No. 48 High Street is a house dating from the early 19th century, with some 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of red brick, featuring some painted render, and has concrete tiled roofs with gable stacks and decorated eaves. The building has an L-plan layout and is three storeys high, with a four-bay east front that includes a high rendered plinth. The front has four glazing bar sash windows on the ground floor, with four more glazing bar sashes above and an additional two smaller glazing bar sashes above those, all featuring segmental heads.
To the south, there is a two-storey, two-bay range with steps leading up to a doorway on the right. This doorway has a 20th-century doorcase with a modillioned pediment and a plain broad doorcase with a semi-circular head and double panelled doors. To the left of the doorway, there is a tripartite glazing bar sash window, and above it are two more glazing bar sashes with segmental heads.
