Description

This is an early 18th-century cottage with a more recent roof and decorative lion's mask rain gutter. The cottage has two storeys and is constructed of red brick. The first floor has three modern windows, which are casements with glazing bars. The ground floor has two windows of three lights each, featuring keystones and narrow pilaster mullions. A wooden doorcase with an open dentil pediment and wooden pilasters frames a panelled ingo and a six-panel door, with two panels being glazed. A sloped gable end to the left features a chimney stack with stone capping. The gable end also has two blocked windows on each floor. The cottage is part of a group that includes Gamlyn’s Almshouses (numbers 3 to 8), former stables attached to number 3, and a garden wall to the south of number 4.
