Description

The Master's Lodge is an early 18th century brick house, built in 1721, located on Church Street. It has two storeys and attics, topped with a double Welsh slate roof featuring three gabled dormers. There are stacks at the gable ends and a wooden eaves cornice. The building has five windows, which are hung sashes with glazing bars and wooden frames. A charming later addition is a small semi-circular porch that projects on slender columns, leading to a door with six panels and two glass sections. To the left, there is a modern two-storey extension with four windows that match the style of the original building. The Master's Lodge is part of a group that includes Gamlyn's Almshouses, Nos 3 to 8 in succession, the former stables to No 3, and a garden wall to the south of No 4.
