Description
A terrace of four houses built around 1820, with later 20th-century alterations. The houses are constructed of red brick with a slate roof. The gables are rendered and have copings. There are four brick stacks, two dating to the 20th century, and two gable stacks, also from the 20th century. The eaves have broad moulded paired brackets. The terrace is two storeys high, with a basement and an attic, and extends over fourteen bays.
A central carriage archway leads to the basement. Within the basement, to the right, are two 20th-century windows with three lights and concrete lintels. To the left is a single three-light casement with a flush wedge lintel, and in the far left position, a single three-light casement with glazing bars set under a flat head.
Above the carriage archway, to the right, are two glazing bar sash windows. A doorway, set three steps up, has an ornate panelled door with whorls and a central square panel featuring radiating spokes. A fanlight above the door has a large female head and glazing bars arranged in a St. Andrew's cross pattern. The door surround is moulded, with a ribbed keystone and square imposts decorated with a circular motif. Further to the right are two glazing bar sashes, and a final doorway with a similar door, fanlight, and surround, although the fanlight lacks the carved female head. To the left of the archway are two glazing bar sashes. Another doorway repeats the design of the previous one, with a similar door, fanlight (lacking the carved face), and a 20th-century brick architrave. Further left are two more glazing bar sashes and a final doorway with a repeating design. Above are fourteen glazing bar sash windows, all with flush wedge lintels. The attic has five dormers: two on the left have single two-light glazing bar casements; one has a glazing bar Yorkshire sash; one further right has a single two-light glazing bar casement; and the final dormer on the right has a single pivotal glazing bar casement.
