Description

This is a late 18th century and early 19th century house with an adjoining barn. The house is built of red brick and has a slate roof with a decorative ridge and two gable stacks. The left gable has a brick coping. It is two storeys high and four bays wide. The ground floor features a doorway with a panelled door and a blocked overlight. To the right is a single plain sash window, and to the left are two glazing bar sashes. The first floor has two glazing bar sashes with a single central blind glazing bar sash above. All openings are set within segmental arches. To the right of the house is an 18th century red brick barn with a weatherboard front and a pantile roof with brick coped gables. The barn is a single storey and four bays wide, with a central large doorway and plank door. To the left are two fixed lights, and to the right a single fixed light, with a doorway and plank door beyond. The buildings represent a rare example of rural structures surviving within an expanded town.
