Description

A pair of houses, now offices, dating to around 1830, with minor alterations in the late 19th and 20th centuries. The construction is of coursed limestone rubble, featuring ashlar dressings and a 20th-century plain tile roof with coped gables and kneelers. Quoins are present. The building is two storeys high. North and south gables are each characterized by triple octagonal stacks, and a central similar quadruple stack.

The east-facing street front has four windows. An arched doorway is located to the right, featuring a plank door, and to the left are two three-light mullion windows with sashes. Next is a similar two-light window, another arched doorway with a four-panel door, and then a further three-light mullion window. The upper floor features off-centre two-light mullion window and to its right a gabled through-eaves dormer with a two-light mullion window. To the left are two similar dormers, also with two-light mullion windows.

The left gable has a single light window with a plain sash, with an attached ashlar gateway to the left. This gateway has Doric columns, a round-headed entrance with a moulded arch and a prominent keystone. It is topped with an ornate open balustrade and corner piers with ball finials.

Internally, original panelled doors and some panelled cupboards remain. A single flight of Gothic-style staircase is present, with a boarded balustrade and newel posts with ball finials.
