Description
21 Northgate is a former lodge built around 1850 by Charles Kirk of Sleaford, designed in the French Gothic style. The building features ashlar stone with sandstone bands and has a steeply pitched hipped slate roof adorned with lead dressings, wrought iron finials, and ridge pieces, along with ashlar ridge stacks. It stands two stories plus attics and has a three-bay front, with the central bay projecting forward. The façade includes a plinth, a moulded first-floor band, and an elaborately bracketed cornice. To the left, there is a rusticated archway with a keystone. The center features a pair of glazing bar casements with carved heads in a moulded stone surround, accompanied by small top lights. To the right, there is a tall single light transom. On the first floor, a central three-light mullion and transom window is flanked by single tall transom lights. At the rear of the building, there is a single-storey square block with a pyramidal roof and open ventilator panels beneath the eaves.
