Description

The gatepiers located 20 metres west of the Church of St Mary in Ashby de la Launde date from around 1772. They are made of limestone ashlar and coade stone. The gatepiers are tall and square with a rusticated finish, featuring moulded bases and tops. Atop each pier is a coade stone urn draped with fabric, which has a gadrooned top and is surmounted by tall flowers. Between the gatepiers, there are plain late 19th-century iron gates. These gatepiers were likely erected for General Manners of Bloxholm Hall.
