Description

Dorrington House is a farmhouse dating to the late 17th century with additions from the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and rendered brick, with ashlar dressings. The roof is slate, featuring a single rendered gable stack and a single rendered ridge stack with a sundial. The western gable has an ashlar coped gable and is surmounted by a ball finial. The building features flush ashlar quoins and a chamfered plinth, arranged across six bays. Originally a single-story building, it was raised in the early 19th century with rendered brick. The off-centre doorway has a 20th-century pointed door within a wooden surround, set into a moulded ashlar surround topped with an ashlar bracketed hood. To the right of the doorway is a pair of two-light cross casement windows; to the left, a single similar window, followed by a gap, and then another pair of two-light cross casement windows. All five windows have ashlar lintels with raised keystones. Above, there are three irregularly spaced two-light cross casement windows.
