Description
A pair of estate cottages dated around 1840, built in the Gothick style, and located in Main Street, Ashby. The cottages were constructed for John Wm King of Ashby Hall. They are built of coursed limestone rubble with a fishscale tile roof, distinguished by pronounced curvy barge boards and a pair of octagonal brick ridge stacks. The cottages are single-storey with an attic. The south front has five bays, with a central pointed doorway containing a plank door. There are two pointed windows with Y tracery frames on either side of the doorway, all with plain, bold rubble surrounds. Above are two gabled dormers, each with curvy barge boards and pointed windows with Y tracery frames and casements.
